Specially graded ASTM Test Sands are used for ASTM tests. The Ottawa, Illinois region is where the naturally rounded silica sands of nearly pure quartz are mined. There are three different gradings available, each created for a certain test type.
Sharp sand is typically favored over builders sand when producing concrete because of its grittier consistency, however if you don't have any sharp sand you can still manufacture concrete by adding a coarser aggregate to your builders sand.
CONTRAINS OF M-SAND
Sand that has been crushed might have a rougher, angular grain. To get the desired workability, more water and cement may be needed.
Greater concentrations of micro-fine particles in manufactured sand than in natural sand may have an impact on the strength and workability of the concrete.
Sand is a very useful substance to have on hand when it comes to buildings and structures, which may surprise individuals outside of the construction industry. It is sturdy and long-lasting while still being versatile and reasonably priced.
No. 1 Sand is a river sand that can be used in concrete, mortar, grout, plaster, and paint, among other things. Its average size is 0.45mm, with the top particle size being 2.36mm and the bottom particle size being 0.75um.

There are three types of materials: cement, concrete, and mortar. The fundamental distinction is that concrete is made up of cement, sand, and gravel while mortar is made up of cement and fine binding powder (which is never used alone).
Workability problems: Unlike natural sand, which is smooth and rounded due to natural gradation, manufactured sand can have a coarser and more angular texture. To obtain the desired workability, additional water and cement may be needed, which would increase expenses.
Sand and gravel in their original bulk form pose no recognized health risks. A variety of natural or mechanical forces may be applied to sand and gravel, resulting in tiny particles (dust) that may contain respirable crystalline silica (particles less than 10 micrometers in aerodynamic diameter).
Sand has a smooth surface that makes it safe to jump over, whereas cement is quite hard and can cause significant injuries if jumped on. For this reason, it is safer to jump over sand than a cement floor.
The most popular aggregate, sand, is then added to the cement. Everything is connected by the sand, creating a synthetic rock. The most advantageous characteristics of concrete, such as thermal expansion, compression strength, and tensile strength, are also improved by the sand.
