TALLINN, Estonia - Spurred on with the the growth of micro-mobility and connectivity industries, e-bike connectivty pioneer, Comodule have launched a brand new merchandise. Bonnie & Clyde, an updated version of your succesful Master, “has been built to be the most compact quality iot module on the market”. The products is also said to be simpler to integrate on a wider range of e-bikes.
Comodule, develops IoT solutions for shared mobility operators and bicycle manufacturers to reduce global environmental pollution and traffic congestion. The company opened its own factory near its headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia in 2019, followed by an office in Nuremberg, Germany in order to be closer to their industry customer.
Improved functionality and a lot easier integration
The company speaks of “a new ear for electric bicycles” with the launch of Bonnie & Clyde, which can be considered an improved ‘brother’ of the popular IoT module, Master. Although sharing the same kind of functionality, the difference is that Bonnie & Clyde is designed to fit most mid-drive e-bikes, it is less difficult to integrate, and the unit is better hidden. The first pilot versions are currently being tested by some of Comodule’s clients.
“For Comodule, the idea of developing new connectivity solutions is to always search for ways to improve the daily urban commute. The new, most compact IoT module is created to make good better, allowing a a lot less time consuming, and a fewer costly, integration,” says Rainer Lepik, product owner.
The main unit and the antenna unit are separated, which led to the 2-name merchandise, making it possible to hide the antennas behind the motor cover and all the main electronics to be hidden in the downtube, seat tube, or any other large enough tube on the bike. The ‘Bonnie unit’ has a 9-45V power input and 2900 mAh battery which communicates while using the bike. The ‘Clyde’ unit consists of Cellular 2G/3G/CAT-M1 connectivity, 3 concurrent GNSS constellations and uses Bluetooth 5.0.
Growing sales team
In addition to the new product or service, Comodule is growing its sales team at it’s Nürnberg, Germany office. In the last six months alone, the company has grown its team from 70 to nearly 90 people. In January, Tobias Bergmann joined the team as a senior sales manager. He has wide experience working in the green-tech field, including as a part in the Brose team, managing the development of e-bike systems of major OEM-s around Brose drives.
“With Tobias on board, we can rely on many years of experience in integrating complex e-bike systems that will help us to further improve our market fit in a fast-growing mobility market. With this knowledge, he will be a great support to both Comodule and its OEM customers,” explains Sven Bernhardt, head of sales.
