How Digital Cameras Work?

Digital cameras are also known as digital cameras. Digital cameras can be considered as one of the broader categories of electronic image processing technology, whose optical imaging system is no different from a conventional camera, however, the way of image recording is completely different. Conventional cameras use chemical photosensitive materials, while digital cameras use a set of photo-coupled devices (CCD).

Since the CCD output is an analog signal, an ADC (analog-to-digital converter) device is needed to digitize it. The data information from the CCD is then read out by the MPU (microprocessor), and the digital signal is compressed and converted to a specific image format with corresponding processing. Finally, the image is stored in memory in the form of a file, which is the imaging principle of digital cameras.

Due to the different structure and performance of CCD, the speed of digital camera capturing images is also different, so digital cameras can be divided into two categories: for still life shooting and for dynamic shooting.

The imaging principle of the camera and its structure is inseparable, the structure of digital cameras are mainly divided into the following parts.

I. Lens

Digital camera lens and ordinary camera lens, also has a zoom lens, fixed focal length lens and other categories, the main parameters of performance indicators by the focal length, field of view, relative aperture, resolution, aberration rate and other decisions.

Second, the image sensor

Currently widely used image sensors are CCD, super CCD and complementary metal oxide semiconductor image sensors.

Third, MPU (microprocessor)

Digital camera through the MPU to achieve the unified coordination and control of various operations.

The lens is the "eye" of the digital camera, and a good lens can guarantee the contrast and fidelity of the captured image. So take care of your digital camera's lens and clean it regularly to keep it in the best performance condition. When cleaning digital cameras, it is best to use regular cleaning tools, such as high-pressure gas cans, deerskin, cleaning rods, brushes and so on. However, it is easy to accidentally damage the light-sensitive elements in the cleaning process, so the cleaning work is best left to professionals.
